abstract 1399304 Glass fibre laminates MARUZEN OIL CO Ltd 15 Feb 1973 7607/73 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Glass fibre laminates are prepared using a polymerizable liquid unsaturated polyester resin composition comprising (a) a polycondensate of (i) 2-methylbutane-1,3-diol or an ester thereof with an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid having up to 6 carbon atoms in the aliphatic moiety, (ii) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or ester selected from terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid and esters thereof, and (iii) an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or anhydride, and (b) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer. In the examples the compositions comprise polyesters prepared from 2- methylbutane-1,3-diol, terephthalic acid, maleic anhydride, dimethyl terephthalate, isophthalic acid, dimethyl isophthalate, propylene glycol, ethylene glycol, 1,3-butane diol, neopentyl glycol, diethylene glycol, fumaric acid and phthalic anhydride; styrene, alpha methyl styrene, ptert.-butyl styrene and methyl methacrylate; and hydroquinone. 12 superposed glass fibre cloths are impregnated with the compositions and the compositions are cured using benzoyl peroxide.
