titleOfInvention Dimerisation process
abstract 1399249 Diaminohexanes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 Oct 1972 [8 Nov 1971] 51719/71 Heading C2C Diaminohexanes including hexamethylene diamine are prepared by dimerizing allylamine by heating it in the presence of a bismuth catalyst, preferably at 100-450‹ C. Suitable catalysts are bismuth oxide, hydroxide, chloride, bromide, nitrate or carbonate, or organic compounds, e.g. BiR 3 , where each R is a hydrocarbon radical. The catalyst may be supported, and may contain other metal catalysts, e.g. transition metal catalysts.
