abstract | 1398411 Piperidine derivatives CIBAGEIGY AG 25 June 1973 [28 July 1972] 35486/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel piperidine derivatives having the formula wherein n is 1, 2, 3 or 4; Y is hydrogen, (C 1 -C 12 ) alkyl, (C 3 -C 12 )alkenyl or (C 7 -C 12 )aralkyl; R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are (C 1 -C 12 )alkyl or together with the intermediate carbon atom form a (C 5 -C 12 ) cycloalkyl group; R<SP>3</SP> is hydrogen, (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl, (C 7 -C 12 )aralkyl or (C 5 -C 6 )cycloalkyl; R<SP>4</SP> is a metal ion or a (C 1 -C 20 ) hydrocarbyl residue which is optionally substituted by halogen or interrupted by one or more oxygen or sulphur atoms, or, when n is 1, R<SP>4</SP> may in addition be hydrogen or a radical of the formula X is O, S or NR<SP>5</SP>, wherein R<SP>5</SP> is the same as R<SP>3</SP>, as well as amine salts thereof, can be prepared either by (i) reacting a compound of the formula with a compound of the formula wherein R<SP>6</SP> and R<SP>7</SP> are (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl and B<SP>+</SP> is an organic or inorganic base cation, to give a compound of the formula which is then reacted with a compound of the formula (ii) reacting a compound of the Formula II with a compound of the formula in order to obtain a compound of the invention wherein n is 1; (iii) reacting a compound of the Formula III with a compound of the formula (iv) reacting a compound of the formula with a compound of the Formula II to give a compound of the formula which upon hydrolysis or alcoholysis, gives a compound of the invention wherein n is 1 and X is NH or O; or (iv) reacting a compound of the formula wherein A is an alkali metal ion, with a compound of the formula M(Z) n wherein M is a metal ion, Z is halogen and n is 1, 2, 3 or 4. The compounds of the invention may be used as stabilizers for polymers. |
