abstract 1395772 Benzodiazepines BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM GmbH 28 Dec 1972 [29 Dec 1971] 59881/72 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R 1 =phenyl, optionally substituted by F, Cl, Br, CF 3 , NO 2 ; R 2 =H, F, Cl, Br, CF 3 , NO 2 , NH 2 , CN, OH) are prepared by (a) cyclizing a compound of the formula (R=atom or group removable as an anion), or (b) oxidizing a compound of the formula The preparation of N-chloroacetyl-N-phenyl- 4-nitroanthranilic acid and its methyl ester is described. The above compounds are psychosedatives and anticonvulsants, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
