titleOfInvention Antiinflammatory compositions
abstract 1391747 Aspirin and tea composition A H ROBINS CO INC 23 Oct 1973 [25 Oct 1972 10 Oct 1973] 49387/73 Heading A5B An anti-inflammatory composition which does not cause gastric irritation comprises a coprecipitate of 85-95% aspirin and 2-15% of a tea constituent. The coprecipitate may be prepared from a solution of tea, instant tea or solubilized tea cream in aqueous sodium carbonate by addition of glacial acetic acid. Instant tea may be decaffeinated before use by extraction with chloroform. Undesirable metal ions may be replaced by sodium on a cation exchange resin. Tea cream is the precipitate formed on cooling hot filtered tea. It contains caffeine, theaflavins and thearubigins. It is solubilized by oxidation with hydrogen peroxide. The coprecipitate may be compounded with conventional additives and carriers and made up as oral tablets.
