titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of derivatives of hexahydrophthalic acid
abstract 1390701 Hexahydrophthalic acid derivatives BAYER AG 11 May 1973 [12 May 1972] 22525/73 Heading C2C Hexahydrophthalic acid derivatives of Formula III in which n is 1 or 2, are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula I in which X is O, NH or NR, and R is an aliphatic or aromatic group which may be substituted, with a compound of Formula II in which R 1 , R 2 and R 3 , which may be the same or different, are H, halogen, OH, alkoxy, aralkoxy, aryloxy or an aliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic group, or R 1 and R 2 together are a 5- or 6-membered aromatic, hydroaromatic, carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring any of which may be. condensed with a further benzene ring, in the presence of HF as catalyst. Compounds of formula may be prepared by reacting a compound of Formula III with water, in the presence of HF when X is O, and in an alkaline medium if X is NH or NR.
