1390078 Cosmetic and textile-treating compositions COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 19 April 1972 [21 April 1971] 18161/72 Headings A5B and A5E A method of solubilizing a heavy metal salt of a 1-hydroxy-2 (1H)-pyridinethione (e.g. the Zn salt) in a solvent selected from water, common organic solvents and mixtures thereof, comprises forming a solution in the solvent of the pyridinethione salt and an aliphatic polyamine of the general formula: H 2 N(CH 2 CH 2 NH) n H wherein n represents a number from 1 to 5, the pyridinethione salt being in the range from 0.25 to 20% by weight of the solution and the weight ratio of the aliphatic polyamine to the pyridinethione salt being in the range from 0.5:1 to 5:1 and sufficient to solubilize the pyridinethione salt. Clear liquid solutions are obtained and these, optionally containing organic detergents, find application as cosmetic and textile-treating compositions, e.g. shampoos, hair groomers, skin cleansers, skin lotions, and antimicrobial compositions for treating fabrics such as diapers.
