| abstract | 1388856 Slow release fibrinolytic activators UNION INTERNATIONAL CO Ltd 12 July 1972 [13 April 1971] 9195/71 Heading A5B Slow release therapeutic compositions, having fibrinolytic, anti-lipogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic and CNS-depressant activity useful in the treatment of thrombotic or potentially thrombotic conditions, comprise a sustainedrelease-effective pharmaceutically acceptable solid or liquid carrier or diluent and an active constituent of the formula: in which R, is hydrogen, hydroxyl or an alkyl or aralkyl ester radical; R 2 is carboxyl, hydroxyl or an alkyl or aralkyl ester radical or, when R 1 is hydroxy and R 3 to R 10 represent hydrogen as hereinafter described, R 2 may also be hydrogen; and R 3 to R 10 , which may be the same or different are hydrogen, alkyl or halogen or a therapeutically acceptable salt, acid addition salt or metal complex thereof. Slow release characteristics are achieved by the provision of enteric coatings on tablets, the microencapsulation of the active ingredient and any diluent or extender or the tableting of granules of the active ingredient, coated with a suitable solution-retarding agent. The compositions may also contain aspirin. |
