1388015 Biological treatment BANQUE POUR L'EXPLANSION INDUSTRIELLE 21 Feb 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 7950/72 Heading ClC A process for biologically treating waste material comprises contacting the waste material with a composition comprising an absorbent substance which is calcium carbonate, magnesium metasilicate, tale, silica or infusorial earth and 10-40% by wt. of an oxygenating agent which is a metal oxide and/or alkali metal peroxide or perborate and allowing the waste material to ferment. The composition may also comprise stearic, palmitic, adipic and oleic acids, maize liquor, malt residues, molasses and compounds containing NH, NH 2 or NH 4 groups, e.g. urea and ammonium phosphate, nitrate and sulphate. The process may be used to treat acidic, basic or neutral wastes, e.g. a paper mill waste water or petroleum on water. During the petroleum treating process the petroleum may be caused to sink. |
