titleOfInvention Stoving lacquer containing organic solvents and nitrogen-containing polyester resins
abstract 1386628 Coated wire DR KURT HERBERTS & CO 26 June 1972 [29 July 1971] 29744/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Copper wire is coated with six layers of a stoving lacquer containing an organic solvent and a nitrogen-containing modified polyester which has been prepared by condensing itaconic acid and/or its isomers and other polycarboxylic acids, polyols and compounds containing NH 2 groups, some of these compounds being at least trifunctional, wherein compounds containing carbohydrazide groups and of the formula: in which R is a divalent aliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic group or when m is at least 1 then R may be a direct bond, n is 1 to 3 and when n is at least 2 R may be a direct bond, A is a group with at least one functional group and m is 0 or 1 to 3, n+m totalling at least 2, are used as the compounds containing NH 2 ' groups in an amount of from 5 to 100 mol%, based on the total quantity of NH 2 -group-containing compounds and the condensation is conducted so as to ensure that 20-100% of the carbohydrazide groups react with itaconic acid and all the itaconic acid reacts with the NH 2 groups. The Examples describe preparing modified polyesters from (1) dimethyl terephthalate, ethylene glycol, tris (2- hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate, itaconic acid and (a) terephthalic acid bis-hydrazide, optionally with trimellitic anhydride, (b) adipic acid bishydrazide, (c) oxalic acid bis-hydrazide or (d) p-aminobenzhydrazide, (2) dimethyl terephthalate, ethylene glycol, glycerin or tris (2-hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate, trimellitic anhydride, itaconic acid, 4, 4'-diaminodiphenyl methane and adipic acid bis-hydrazide or trimeric acid tris-hydrazide and (3) ethylene glycol, tris (2- hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate, trimellitic anhydride 4, 4'-diaminodiphenylmethane, itaconic acid and terephthalic acid bis-hydrazide, and preparing lacquers from the polyesters and cresol.
