abstract | 1386543 Olefin polymer compositions CABOT CORP 21 March 1973 [23 March 1972] 13508/73 Heading C3P Black-pigmented resin compositions comprise (1) a polymer of a C 2-10 α-monoolefin and (2) 0À1 to 5% by weight of the polymer of an oil furnace carbon black having a BET-N 2 surface area of less than 350 m.<SP>2</SP>/gm., a Nigrometer scale value of less than 81À5 and a lithographic oil dispersion rating of greater than 80%. The polymer may be a homopolymer or copolymer of ethylene, propylene, butene-1, pentene-1, 3,3-dimethylbutene-1, 4-methylpentene-1, octene-1, decene-1 or 3-methylbutene-1, optionally together with vinyl or vinylidene chloride, vinyl carboxylates, acrylic or methacrylic esters, amides or nitriles, vinyl aromatic compounds, conjugated or non-conjugated dienes, or esters of maleic, fumaric, itaconic or crotonic acids. The compositions may also contain stabilizing, flame proofing and curing agents. Examples describe the preparation of furnace blacks and the incorporation thereof in polyethylene and polypropylene. |
