abstract | 1385396 Indole RUTGERSWERKE AG 8 Feb 1974 [10 Jan 1974] 05931/74 Addition to 1362510 Heading C2C Indole is prepared by heating o-ethylaniline in the gaseous phase and in the presence of water vapour and of a silica catalyst containing chromium dioxide, at least 15% by weight of copper and at least 8% by weight of a chromate of a metal from Group IIa of the Periodic Table. The preferred catalyst comprises 55-65% by weight of silica, 18-24% of copper, 8-10% of barium chromate and 2-4% of chromium dioxide. Any o-aminostyrene produced may be recycled. |
