titleOfInvention Guanidino-mercaptocarboxylic acids and their disulphides processes for their preparation and compositions coantaining them elevator motor control system employing power aplifier with output current limitting arrangement
abstract 1385092 Guanidino-mercapto-carboxylic acids and their disulphides DIAMALT AG 24 July 1972 [23 July 1971] 34460/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C7] The invention comprises the compounds of formula HS-C(R)(R<SP>1</SP>)-(CH 2 ) n -C(R)(R<SP>1</SP>)- N(R)-C(:NH)-N(R) 2 and the corresponding disulphides, in which one R<SP>1</SP> is COOH and the other is R, each R is hydrogen or alkyl, and n is 0 or 1; their production by reacting or a mixture thereof with its disulphide, in neutral or slightly alkaline aqueous solution with NCNZ 2 , in which each Z is hydrogen, alkyl or an alkali metal (in the latter case R in the product is hydrogen); and pharmaceutical and/ or cosmetic compositions containing the products in association with a suitable vehicle. Acid products are obtained from acid starting materials; and a mixture of an acid and its disulphide is obtained from a mixture of an acid starting material and its disulphide, which mixture may be prepared by treating the disulphide with a reducing agent, e.g. thioglycolic acid, sodium sulphite or an alkali metal cyanide. Disulphide products can be reduced to the corresponding thiols with nascent hydrogen produced in acid solution by means of aluminium, zinc or tin, or electrolytically. The compounds of the invention are keratolytically or mucolytically active and may be used as hair-waving or decongestant agents, e.g. in an ointment, paste, gel, salve, lotion, shampoo, balm, unguent, wash, cream, solution, spray or emulsion.
