titleOfInvention Naphthalate polyester fibres
abstract 1384581 Polyethylene-2,6-naphthalate fibres TEIJIN Ltd 12 April 1972 [14 April 1971 2 Aug 1971] 16883/72 Heading B5B [Also in Division D1] Polyethylene-2,6-naphthalate fibres having a diffraction intensity ratio between angles 2#=18À7 and 2#=15À6 degrees of from 0À15 to 1À73 are prepared. The polymer contains at least 85 mol per cent of ethylene-2,6-naphthalate units and has an intrinsic viscosity (as herein defined), of from 0À3 to 1À0. The fibres are obtained from undrawn fibres of the appropriate composition, prepared axially by melt-spinning and having a birefringence no greater than 0À0275, by heating them at a temperature of from 112‹ to 170‹ C. for at least 0À43 second and then drawing them at a draw ratio (DR) defined by the following relationship, #n being the birefringence of the undrawn yarn:
