abstract 1384163 Trans-14-polydienes VORONEZHSKY FILIAL VSESOJUZNOGO NAUCHNOISSLEDOVATELSKOGO INSTITUTA SINTETICHESKOGO KAUCHUKA IMENI AKADEMIKA S V LEBEDEVA 6 May 1972 21243/72 Heading C3P Conjugated dienes are polymerized to give polymers containing predominately a trans 14 configuration using a catalyst comprising VCl 4 , T 1 Cl 4 , an organo Li compound and an alkyl aluminium compound and optionally an ether. The polymerization is preferably effected in a hydrocarbon solvent at 0 to 100‹C. In the examples butadiene and isoprene are homopolymerized in toluene, cyclohexane or isopentane using VCl 4 , TiCl 4 , one of n or sec butyl Li, tri Li polyisoprene, di Li polyisoprene, lithium polyisoprene or dilithium polybutadiene, one of triisobutyl Al or triethyl Al and in example (5) diisopropyl ether, (10) ligroine, (11) diphenyl oxide and (12) anisole.
