titleOfInvention | Billet for and method of manufacturing rods or wire of compound material |
abstract | 1383544 Extruding ALLM€NNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 9 June 1972 [10 June 1971] 26939/72 Heading B3P A billet suitable for hydrostatic extrusion comprises a core 1 and a casing 3 spaced from the core and held in position by an end plate 5 provided with a portion 5b which fits tightly in the end of the casing. The front of the core is conical or frusto-conical and the casing 3 is deformed over the front of the core to hold it in place and leave a space 4 between the core and casing. The rear end of the billet is sealed by an elastomeric cap 6. The core may be aluminium or aluminium alloy and the casing copper or copper alloy. The angle "α" of the front of the core is made greater than the die angle "#" so that the casing is urged against the die surface to prevent hydrostatic fluid reaching the core. |
