titleOfInvention | Polyurethane spray composition |
abstract | 1383215 Polyurethane foams MARLESKUHLMANN-WYANDOTTE SA 1 May 1972 [30 April 1971] 20109/72 Heading C3R Polyurethane foams are prepared from compositions comprising, based on the total weight of ingredients, (c) 20 to 40 p.b.w. of an estercontaining polyol obtained by reacting an alkylene oxide condensate of a polyhydric alcohol having 2 to 6 OH groups with tetrabromophthalic anhydride and an alkylene oxide, (b) 2 to 15 p.b.w. of a polyoxyalkylene condensate of sucrose or α-methyl-glucoside, the condensate having a hydroxyl number of 400 to 600, (c) 40 to 60 p.b.w. of a polyaryl polyalkylene polyisocyanate having a functionality of 2À2 to 3À5 or an isocyanate terminated prepolymer thereof with (a) or (b) above, (d) 1 to 15 p.b.w. of a phosphorus-containing organic compound, (e) 0À2 to 2À0 p.b.w. of a catalyst, (f) 0À15 to 3À0 p.b.w. of a wetting agent, (g) 5 to 30 p.b.w. of a blowing agent other than water and (h) 0 to 1À5 p.b.w. of water. For the preparation of the ester-containing polyol (a) several alkylene oxides and alkylene oxide/polyol condensates are listed. Specifically exemplified are reactor products of tetrabromophthalic anhydride with (I) the condensation product of propylene oxide and pentaerythritol and propylene oxide, and (IV) the condensation product of propylene oxide and α-methylglucoside and propylene oxide. The polyisocyanate (C) is preferably a polyphenyl polymethylene polyisocyanate. The phosphorus compound (d) may be one such as 0,0-diethyl- N,N-bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)aminomethyl phosphonate, tris-(#-chloroethyl)phosphate and tricresylphosphate. Preferred catalysts are tertiary amines and organotin compounds. The wetting agent is suitably one which is non- ionic, an exemplified one being an organosilicone. The blowing agent is preferably trichlorofluoromethane. The polyurethane foam-forming compositions have a long shelf-life and are sprayable. |
