1382045 Waxy crude oil composition SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 3 March 1972 [5 March 1971] 6132/71 Heading C5G and C5E A waxy crude oil contains a polymer having a number average molecular weight of at least 4000 and being produced by the copolymerization of (1) at least one olefinically unsaturated compound containing an aliphatic hydrocarbon side chain with at least 10 C atoms, (ii) at least one olefinically unsaturated compound containing a heterocyclic ring and optionally (iii) up to 50 mole per cent of at least one olefinically unsaturated compound containing neither such a heterocyclic ring nor such a side chain. Examples of (i) are alkyl esters of unsaturated carboxylic acids, vinyl and allyl esters of saturated carboxylic acids, amides and imides of unsaturated carboxylic acids, and alkyl vinyl ethers. Examples of (ii) are sulpholene and vinyl compounds of pyridine, quinolene, or isoquinolene. The examples describe copolymers of alkyl acrylates with 4-vinyl pyridine. |
