abstract | 1380449 Stabilizing polypropylene IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 May 1973 [12 May 1972 22 May 1972] 22343/72 and 23887/72 Heading C3P Polypropylene is stabilized with a synergistic mixture comprising (1) 0À001 to 1À0 weight per cent of a phosphite or thiophosphite antioxidant and (2) 0À001 to 1À0 weight per cent of an isocyanurate of formula where R 1 is H, C 1-20 alkyl or X, R 2 is H or X, R 3 is X and X is a group of formula where m is 1 to 4, R<SP>4</SP> is a C 1-18 alkyl group adjacent to the hydroxyl group, and R 5 , R 6 and R 7 are H or C 1-18 alkyl. The compositions may also contain dialkyl thiodipropionates, hydroxy, benzophenones, benzotriazoles, calcium stearate, antistatic agents, pigments and blowing agents. Examples describe compositions comprising polypropylene, distearyl thiodipropionate, 2- hydroxy - 4 - (n - octyloxy) benzophenone, tris - (3,5 - di - t.butyl - 4 8 hydroxybenzyl) isocyanurate and (I) distearyl pentacrythritol diphosphite or (II) tris-(nonylphenyl)phosphite. |
