abstract | 1380394 Proteinaceous food PEDIGREE PETFOODS Ltd 12 April 1972 [20 April 1971] 10214/71 Heading A2B An intermediate moisture food product, particularly suitable for feeding pets, comprising a meaty or other edible proteinaceous material and sufficient water-soluble material to render the product bacteriologically stable, and containing sufficient heat coagulated edible protein, for example vital wheat glutin, dry blood plasma, soya protein isolate, or egg albumen, forming a coherent elastic matrix in the product and conferring on it a coherent elastic texture, may be prepared by forming a mix of pasteurised meaty or other proteinaceous material, moisture, and sufficient water soluble substances, incorporating the heat coagulable protein in the mix at a temperature below that at which it coagulates, and then heating. Also present may be humectants, dyes, anti-oxidants, and nutrient substances. The product may be cut into chunks which are coated with oil and/or a stabilised aqueous solution containing humectants, antimycotics, and flavourings. |
