titleOfInvention Water-soluble capsules
abstract 1377452 Telescopic capsules PARKE DAVIS & CO 2 Feb 1973 [3 Feb 1972] 5435/73 Heading B8C A pharmaceutical telescopic capsule composed of two co-operating, water-soluble shells 11 and 12 enclosing a particulate solid fill is provided with one or more apertures 15 which is/are overlaid with a sealing film 17 of a material substantially more water-soluble than the material of the capsule walls. The latter may be gelatine or other conventionally used equivalent materials, whilst the film may be composed of polyvinyl pyrrolidone or a cellulose derivative: The film may be applied by dipping, brushing, printing or spraying and is such that, when the capsule contacts water, it dissolves to allow access to the interior of the capsule whilst the walls thereof are still intact.
