1376881 Lubricant and fuel additives TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 29 Jan 1973 [28 Feb 1972] 4378/73 Headings C5F and C5G A metal-free lubricant and fuel additive comprises a mixture of (a) a dihydrocarbyldithiophosphate-hydroquinone of formula where R is alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, aralkyl, or cycloalkyl where n=0 or an integer and R<SP>11</SP> is alkylene, and R<SP>1</SP> is H, alkyl, aryl, or hydroxyl; and (b) a dispersant N-hydrocarbylsubstituted amine, hydrocarbyl-substituted amide; a hydrocarbyl-substituted succinimide, succinamic acid or succinamic ester, or a hydrocarbyl-substituted phosphonic or phosphonic acid derivative, the weight ratio of (a) : (b) being 1 : 1 to 1 : 10. The specified base materials are a gasoline, jet fuel, diesel oil, fuel oil, drying oil, grease, mineral lubricating oil and synthetic lubricants of the aliphatic ester type. The proportion of additive may be, e.g. 1-15 wt. per cent of the base oil. Conventional additives may also be present. Many additives (a) and (b) are specified. |
