abstract 1373338 2-Alkyl-4(3H)=pteridinones BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 25 June 1973 [30 June 1972] 30061/73 Heading C2C Novel compounds I in which R is a C 2-7 alkyl or C 2-7 cycloalkyl group and the salts thereof are prepared by (1) reaction of a compound II or an acid addition salt thereof with glyoxal or a sodium bisulphite addition compound, acetal, oxime or hydrazone thereof or (2) condensing a compound III in which X is a carboxylic acid or amide group and Y is amino or halogen with a carboxylic acid R-COOH or ac derivative thereof in which Z 1 , Z 2 and Z 3 are alkoxy or acyloxy or when Y is halogen or X is a carboxylic acid group two of them together represent an imino group and the third is alkoxy or acyloxy. Compounds I are diuretics, influencing only the excretion of sodium ions and form with a carrier or diluent a pharmaceutical composition which may be administered orally or parenterally.
