abstract | 137,324. Odion, P., and Cayrol, A., (Assignees of Guiraud, F.). April 25, 1914, [Convention date]. Electrodes; electrolytes; connexions; connexions to carbons. - A two-fluid battery has a negative electrode consisting of a number of carbon plates D radiating from the centre of the porous pot, each plate having its longitudinal edges bevelled to a V shape as shown in plan in Fig. 5. The plates may be joined together by a cast-metal plate or ring, or they may be attached to a ring E by means of clips F whereby the extent to which the carbons project may be varied. The positive electrode B consists of a zinc ring suspended in the outer jar by hooks H, the height of the zinc being about a third of the depth of the liquid in which it is immersed, and the connecting wire W being attached to the interior of the electrode by a bolt and nut N. The liquid in the porous pot consists of a solution of 100 grams sodium bichromate in 220 grams sulphuric acid at 66‹ BaumÚ, the outer jar containing a solution of sodium chloride at 20‹ BÚ. The dimensions ot the porous pot and outer jar are such that when the cell is mounted for use they will contain equal volumes of liquid. |
