1369349 Xanthate disulphides BAYER AG 13 Nov 1972 [13 Nov 1971] 52211/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel disulphides of formula where the Rs are the same or different and represent R 1 O(CH 2 ) n O(CH 2 ) n1 -, R 1 OR 2 -, (R 1 OCH 2 ) 2 CH- or R 3 O(CH 2 ) m -, R 1 is C 1-10 alkyl, R 2 is C 3-10 alkylene, R 3 is C 3-10 alkyl, n and n<SP>1</SP> are 2, 3 or 4 and m is 1 or 2, are prepared by reacting ROH with CS 2 in the presence of a strong base and oxidizing the resulting xanthate. The products are used as molecular weight regulators in the polymerization of conjugated diolefins. |
