abstract 1367703 Temperature indicators SPEZIALFOLIEN LEIPZIG VEB 22 Aug 1971 34320/71 Heading G1D A temperature indicator comprises a base member in sheet form having a coating of a composition which includes a fusible substance of known melting point, a colourant mixed with the fusible substance and a binder, the colourant dissolving in the fusible substance when such substance melts. The base member may be an absorbent paper which may be sandwiched between two foils of which one at least may be metal. The fusible substance may comprise Heliotropine, N-acetyldiphenylamine, 2-methoxybenzoic acid, xanthene, salicylamide or coronene, the colourant may be Ceresine red, a Sudan dye, copper phthalocyanine or vanadyl phthalocyanine and the binder may be an organic or inorganic water-soluble substance which acts as a dispersant for the fusible substance and colourant. The binder may comprise polyvinyl alcohol, dammar, dextrin or potassium silicate.
