1367666 Improving soil release in fabrics DOW CORNING CORP 19 Aug 1971 [3 Sept 1970 30 Oct 1970] 38955/71 Heading D1P [Also in Division C3] A composition for improving soil-release in fabrics comprises an aqueous mixture or copolymer of 10 to 99 wt. % of a linear polysiloxane having at least one Me group per Si atom, any other siloxane substituents being H atoms or Et or Vi groups, with 90 to 1 wt % of a water-soluble polymer of an unsaturated carboxylic acid. In the Examples methacrylic acid is polymerised using potassium persulphate catalyst in the presence of an emulsion of a polydimethylsiloxane haying 0-20 mol % MeViSiO units or an aqueous solution of a polymethacrylic acid is mixed with an emulsion of a polydimethylsiloxane having 0-1.5 mol % MeViSiO units. The emulsions so obtained are mixed with dimethylol dihydroxyethyleneurea, MgCl 2 or Zn(NO 3 ) 2 and a nonylbenzene polyalkylene oxide or with MeSi(OMe) 3 and dibutyltin dilaurate and applied to nylon, cotton or polyester/cotton fabrics. |
