titleOfInvention | Epoxidation of unsaturated compounds |
abstract | 1365589 Epoxidation of unsaturated compounds SOC NATIONALE DES PETROLES D'AQUITAINE 17 Feb 1972 [18 Feb 1971 2 April 1971] 7431/72 Heading C2C Olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbons are epoxidized in the liquid phase with a hydroperoxide and a catalyst comprising an organometallic chelate complex of a Group V or VI metal oxide and a nitrogenous bidendatechelate forming ligand. Cyclohexene and propylene are epoxidized in examples using catalysts from molybdenum, vanadium and tungsten oxides. The chelate forming ligand may be 8- hydroxy quinoline, substituted mono- or dicarboxylic pyridine acids, compounds of formula where R 1 is an alkyl radical or aromatic nucleus, R 2 is hydrogen, alkyl radical or aromatic nucleus, e.g. benzohydroxamic or salicylhydroxamic acids, substituted or unsubstituted hexahydrobenzo-hydroxamic acid, N-benzoyl N- phenyl hydroxylamine and N-furfuryl N-phenyl hydroxylamine. The reaction mixture may include solvents and the catalyst may be activated by reacting separately with a solution of hydroperoxide before being added to the olefine. |
