titleOfInvention 2 4 thiazoledimethanol carbamates and 2 4-thiazoledimethanol
abstract 1365201 Thiazole derivatives BANYU PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd and H HIDAKA 28 July 1972 [30 July 1971 (3)] 35514/72 Heading C2C Novel thiazole derivatives of the formula wherein R is C 1-4 alkyl or phenyl are prepared by reacting isocyanates of the formula RNCO with 2,4-thiazoledimethanol, which is obtained by reducing diesters of 2,4-thiazoledicarboxylic acid or by hydrolysing 2,4-diacetoxymethylthiazole resulting from the reaction between 1-acetoxy-3-chloroacetone and 2-acetoxythioacetamide, obtained by reacting 2-acetoxyacetonitrile with hydrogen sulphide. Ethyl 2-hydroxymethyl-4-thiazolecarboxylate is obtained by reducing diethyl 2,4-thiazoledicarboxylate. Pharmaceutical compositions contain the above novel carbamates in admixture with pharma. ceutically acceptable carriers or diluents. The compositions are used in the treatment of diseases of the circulatory, cardiovascular and central nervous systems.
