titleOfInvention | Recovery of metal values |
abstract | 1364934 Recovery of molybdenum and rhenium values CONTINENTAL ORE CORP 26 Nov 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 54978/71 Heading C1A [Also in Division F4] Mo and Re values are recovered from molybdenite concentrate by heating the concentrate in a preheater 44, and contacting it with an oxygen or mixed oxygen/sulphur dioxide gas stream by passing the concentrate and gas stream countercurrent to each other in a vertically oriented reaction zone 40 at a temperature below that at which molybdic oxide volatilizes, i.e. 550-680 C. The major portion of the rhenium (up to 95%), as rhenium oxide, is volatilized in the reaction zone and passes to the scrubbers, together with a minor proportion (less than 10%) of the molybdenum values. The molybdenum and rhenium values can be recovered from the scrubber solution by conventional means. The majority of the molybdic oxide particles fall by gravity to the rotating hearth 22 where they are roasted and annealed. The molybdic oxide is recovered from the calcine by conventional means. |
