abstract | 1363161 Polystyrene/polyethylene/glass fibre compositions TEIJIN Ltd 26 Jan 1972 [26 Jan 1971 28 Jan 1971] 3778/72 Headings C3P and C3C [Also in Divisions B4-B5 and B6] A composition suitable for making pencil casings (see Division B6) comprises 100 parts by weight of a polystyrene, 10-40 parts by weight of polyethylene, 10-55 parts by weight of glass fibres, and a blowing agent. The polystyrene may be a homopolystyrene or a high impact polystyrene such as butadiene rubber modified or styrene-butadiene modified polystyrene. The composition may be in the form of a physical mixture of the three components or pellets obtained by blending the components, extruding and chopping into pellets. The blowing agent is preferably azodicarbonamide. High- or low-density polyethylene may be used. The composition may also contain pigments and/or fillers. |
