titleOfInvention Method of and apparatus for transferring latent electrostatic images
abstract 1362863 Electro-photography &c AUSTRALIA COMMONWEALTH OF 16 Aug1971 [17 Aug 1970] 38404/71 Heading G2H A charged image is developed with toner after transfer from the member on which it is formed to a receiver member consisting of two insulative layers, an image-receiving layer and a backing layer, the image-receiving layer having a lower dielectric constant than the backing layer. The charge image may be produced electro-photographically or by means of a writing stylus. The image-receiving layer may be of polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl chloride acetate, cellulose acetate butyrate, polymethlmethacrylate, epoxy resin, polyethylene or silicone resin. The backing layer may be of melamine-formaldehyde, phenol-formaldehyde, styrene alkyd or moistened paper. The developed image may be transferred to a further member. In one form, Fig.3, the two layer member is a drum 22, the charge image being applied from a drum 21, developer being applied from a roll 27, the developed image being transferred to a web 33, and cleaning being effected at a station 37. In another form, Fig.4, the two layer member is a web 42, the charge being applied from a drum 40 and developer being applied from a roll 45.
