1362272 Sphere structures BAYER AG 28 July 1971 [31 July 1970] 35387/71 Heading C1M Pigments for enamels comprise host and guest components in which the host is a mixed phase of the sphere structure MMeZX5 or MMeZX4Y1 (M = Ca and/or Ba, Me = Ti and/or Sn though if M is Ba then Me must be Ti; Z = Si; X = O; and Y is F and/or OH) comprising pure phase or isotype mixed phases, and has at least one guest component (0À1-50% by wt.) without changing substantially the structure or electro neutrality, which guest has the same formula but Z is replaced by Zn or a cation of valency 2-5 and ionic radius <0À6Š and/or Me is replaced by a cation of valency 1-6 and ionic radius of 0À45- 1À0Š and/or M is replaced by a cation with a valency of 1-4 and ionic radius >0À9Š. The mixed phase may be prepared by mixing the host and guest components and heating in air, O2, N2, water vapour or noble-gas atmosphere under reduced, normal or excess pressure to 200-1500‹ C. preferably 1100-1400‹ C. Large numbers of examples are given of a wide variety of colours. |
