titleOfInvention Thermometers
abstract 1360510 Thermometers THERMEX Inc 23 Dec 1971 60136/71 Heading G1D A clinical thermometer comprising a reservoir bulb 13 and a stem 12 which is of transparent plastics material and which has a capillary bore 15 communicating with the reservoir bulb 13 is characterized by two or more capillary bore portions 21a, 21b, 21c each of a cross section larger than a capillary bore portion more remote from the reservoir bulb 13. As shown, the reservoir bulb 13 and stem 12 which are made separately are telescoped and fused together so that the largest bore portion 21c in a tubular end 20 of the stem 12 is in communication with indicating liquid in the bulb 13, the bulb 13 being lined with a metal (e.g. steel), tubular shell 28. Temperatures sensed by the bulb 13 are indicated by use of a scale on a flat portion of the stem. The plastics material may be polystyrene.
