titleOfInvention | Substituted 1,2,4-oxadiazolidine 3,5 diones |
abstract | 1359872 Substituted 1,2,4-oxadiazolidine-3,5- diones BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODAFABRIK AG 30 Sept 1971 [1 Oct 1970] 45496/71 Heading C2C Novel compounds of Formula I: wherein R denotes an open-chain aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally substituted by chlorine, no multiple bond in this radical terminating on the carbon atom by means of which the radical is attached to the rest of the molecule; or R denotes a monocyclic, bicyclic or higher polycyclic alkyl radical having 4 to 14 carbon atoms and optionally substituted by ethynyl, are prepared by reacting the appropriate isocyanate of formula R-NCO, with 4-(3<SP>1</SP>-hydroxyphenyl)- 2 - methyl - 1,2,4 - oxadiazolidine - 3,5 - dione, the latter being prepared from 1-methyl-1- hydroxy - 3 - (3<SP>1</SP> - hydroxyphenyl) - urea and methyl chloroformate. The examples describe the preparation of many specific compounds of Formula I which find use as herbicides. |
