abstract | 1357960 Aminopolyureylene composition COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 25 Oct 1971 [16 Nov 1970 (2)] 49376/71 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions C5 and D1] A composition which optionally but most preferably contains up to 99% by weight of a water-soluble detergent, comprises essentially an aminopolyureylene resin of M.W. 300 to 100,000 and having the repeating unit wherein X is -NH-, Y is O or S and n is 2 or 3 and a material selected from (I) antimicrobial agents, (II) tarnish inhibitors, (III) ultraviolet absorbers, (IV) fluorescent brighteners, (V) bluing agents, VI skin treating materials which are watersoluble substantive proteins, ethylene oxide polymers, silicones or polyacrylamides and (VII) cationic quaternary ammonium and imidazolinium fabric softeners, the weight ratio of resin to active materials being 0À25 : 1 to 20 : 1. The preferred aminopolyureylene resin is that prepared by reacting equimolar quantities of N-methyl bis-(3-aminopropyl) amine and urea. The additional materials may be (I) salts of 2-pyrridinethiol-1-oxide, substituted bisphenols, substituted salicylanilides, substituted carbanilides, mono-higher alkyl quaternary ammonium salts, 5,7-diido-8-hydroxyquinoline, 1,6 - di - (4<SP>1</SP> - chlorophenyldiguanado) hexane, 5 - chloro - 2 - (2,4- dichloro - phenoxy)phenol and C 8 -C 22 isoquinolinium halides, (II) benzotriazole or ethylenethiourea, (III) substituted benzophenones, (IV) stilbene disulphonates, quaternized aminoalkyl substituted phenyl sulphonamides of aryl pyrazoline, oxazoles and aminocoumarins, (V) ultramarine bluing agents, (VI) water-soluble polypeptides and polyethylene oxides. Particularly preferred compositions comprise up to 99% by weight of detergent, 0À05 to 5% by weight of resin and 0À05 to 5% by weight of non-softener material. In the case of the softener materials the compositions suitably contain 3 to 20% by weight of quaternary softener and 3 to 20% by weight of resin, the balance being generally an aqueous solvent. The softener compositions may be provided in liquid or powder form and in the liquid form may also comprise an anionic detergent and a detergent builder ingredient. When a detergent is included in the non-softener compositions it may be a water-soluble organic anionic, non- ionic, amphoteric, zwitter-ionic, polar non- ionic or cationic detergent. |
