titleOfInvention Polyurethane curative
abstract 1356549 Polyurethane elastomers AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 27 June 1972 [15 July 1971] 30091/72 Heading C3R Polyurethane elastomers are prepared by curing polyurethane prepolymers with from 80 to 110% of the stoichiometrically required amount of 2,6-dichloro-p-phenylene diamine and 0À1 to 1 part per hundred of the prepolymer of a monocarboxylic acid, dicarboxylic acid, metal salt of a mono- or dicarboxylic acid, carboxylic acid anhydride or a tertiary amine. The prepolymers are prepared by reacting a polymeric diol with a stoichiometric excess of 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate, 2,6-tolylene diisocyanate or a mixture of these tolylene diisocyanates preferably containing a major proportion of the 2,4-isomer. A solubilizing agent for the diamine, e.g. the dimethyl ether of tetraethylene glycol or tricresyl phosphate, may be added to the reaction mixture. In specific examples, azelaic acid, pimelic acid, stearic acid, stannousoctoate, molybdenum naphthenate triethylene diamine and stearic anhydride are used in conjunction with the diamine in the curing of the prepolymer.
