abstract | 1349306 Shrink-proofing wool HERCULES Inc 7 Jan 1972 [8 Oct 1970 15 June 1971] 28057/71 and 683/72 Addition to 1283424 Heading D1P Keratinous fibres e.g. wool, mohair, cashmere, camel hair alpaca, vicuna or angora which may be associated with silk, acetylated rayon, rayon cellulose acetate, nylon, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polypropylene or copolymers of ethylene and propylene or acrylonitrile polymer or copolymer fibres are shrink-proofed by treatment with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble isothiouronium salt of an epihalohydrin polymer wherein at least 5% of the halo groups of the polymer have been substituted by isothiouronium hydrohalide groups, said epihalohydrin polymer being a homopolymer of epihalohydrin, a copolymer of at least two epihalohydrins or a copolymer of at least one epihalohydrin and ethylene oxide and heating at 40-150‹C to cure the polymer. The keratin fibres may be pretreated with aqueous sodium bisulphite or aqueous sodium dichloroisocyanurate. |
