titleOfInvention | Sulphimido derivatives of nitrofurans and methods for their preparation |
abstract | 1345092 Sulphurino-derivatives of nitrofurans BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 18 Sept 1972 [21 Sept 1971] 43085/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds I in which X is 0 or 5, n is 0 or 1, A is a bond on the group -N = CH- in the N atom is attached to Het and Het is a bicyclic system of s-triazole and a 5- or 6-membered aromatic ring (with the left-hand part of the formula being connected to a C atom in an α or γ position to a cyclic N atom in Het and A being connected to any other substitutable C atom of Het) or an aromatic 5- or 6-membered ring containing up to 3 hetero atoms at least one of which is nitrogen; and salts thereof are prepared (1) by condensation of a compound II with dimethyl sulphoxide preferably at a temperature below 60 C. in the presence of a dehydrating agent and a tertiary amine base, (2) nitrating a compound III or (3) reacting a compound with 5-nitro-furfural or 5-nitrothiophene-2- aldehyde or with the leacyl derivatives thereof. Het is a 1,2,4-thiadiazole, 1,3,4-thiadiazole, pyrimidine, pyridazine or 5-triazolo [4,3-b] pyridazine ring system. Compounds (I) are anti-microbial agents and form with a diluent or carrier a pharmaceutical composition which may be administered orally or topically. |
