abstract | 1341807 Explosive compositions ICI AUSTRALIA Ltd 19 June 1972 [28 June 1971] 28612/72 Heading C1D A gelatine type dynamite composition containing a liquid explosive nitric ester comprises an amount of a specified fixative agent sufficient to reduce the exudation and volatilization of the nitric ester; the additive may also reduce the amount of fume and toxic gases produced in an underground explosion. The specified agents are the artificial musk compounds 2,6-dinitro-3- methoxy-4-tert. butyl toluene, 3,5-dinitro-2,6,- dimethyl-4-tert. butylacetophenone,2, 4,6-trinitro-1,3-dimethyl-5-tert. butylbenzene, and 2,6- dinitro-3,4,5-trimethyl-tert. butylbenzene; also suitable are these compounds without nitro groups or with a fewer number of nitro groups. The nitric ester may be a mixture of nitroglycerine and ethylene glycol dinitrate. Other ingredients are nitrocellulose, ammonium nitrate of different specified particle sizes, sodium nitrate, asphalt, naphthalene, sugar, urea, hexamethylenetetramine, sawdust, woodmeal, flours, dextrins, starches, water, guar gum, calcium carbonate, china clay, barium sulphate, ammonium phosphates, dinitrobenzene, dinitroethylbenzene, nitrotoluene, dinitrotoluene, trinitrotoluene, dinitroxylene, condensation products of ethylene oxide with alkyl phenols, alcohols, amines, carboxylic acids, amides, and alkylolamides, amyl acetate, octyl butyrate, isoamyl, isobutyrate, dimethyl, diethyl, dibutyl, dioctyl, and diisooctyl phthalates. |
