titleOfInvention Photographic dry copying material
abstract 1341092 Photo-sensitive materials and transfer processes AGFA-GEVAERT AG 11 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 14160/71 Heading G2C A process for producing transferred images comprises imagewise exposing a photo-sensitive material comprising a layer of a transferable pyrazolin-5-one having at least one H atom or amino-phenylamine group in the 4-position and which may have a carbo-or hetero-cyclic ring fused at the 3 and 4 positions and a light-sensitive organic compound which on exposure reacts with the pyrazolinone to form a non-transferable product, contacting the exposed layer with a receiving sheet and heating to transfer the unreacted pyrazolinone which reacts with a compound in the receiving sheet to produce a coloured image. Specified light-sensitive compounds are azides and bisimidazoles. The pyrazolinone is preferably of formula:- wherein R 1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, cycloalkyl or heterocyclic, R 2 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclic, hydroxyl, alkoxy, amino or carboxyalkyl, R 3 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, amino, amido, alkoxy or aralkyl, and R 4 is hydrogen or 4-aminophenylamino and R 1 and R 2 may complete a heterocyclic or carbocyclic ring. The azide may be a heterocyclic or aryl azide, a carboxyl azide or sulphonyl azide and preferably an azidoacridine or azidoquinoline. The bisimidazole may be one of those specified in Specification 1047569. The layer may contain a sensitizer such as cyaninedyes or a binder such as a vinyl or acrylic polymer or copolymer, a cellulose ether or ester, gelatine, alginic acid or a starch ether. Specified reactants in the receiving sheet are gold, platinum or silver soaps, silver salts as in Specification 1111492, diazonium salts or oxidized colour developers to produce a coloured image. Alternatively, a receiving sheet may be dispensed with if the reactant is coated in a separate layer of the light-sensitive material; preferably below the light-sensitive layer.
