titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of n,o-dialkylhydroxylamines
abstract 1338028 N,O-Dialkylhydroxylamines CIBA GEIGY AG 19 April 1971 [20 March 1970] 24520/71 Heading C2C An N,O-dialkylhydroxylamine is prepared by reacting an aldehyde or ketone with hydroxylamine, a hydroxylamine salt or a hydroxylamine disulphonate to give the aldoxime or ketoxime; alkylating the latter to a mixture of an O-alkyl oxime and an N-alkylnitrone; quaternizing the product with an alkylating agent with exclusion of moisture at 50-140‹ C. to give a compound and hydrolysing the latter under aqueous acid conditions to yield an N,O-dialkylhydroxylamine. Examples prepare N,O - dimethyl hydroxylamine and a mixture of O-ethyl-N- methyl- and O-methyl-N-ethyl-hydroxylamines, via the oximes, oxime ethers and nitrones derived from benzaldehyde, acetone, cyclohexanone, butyraldehyde, furfurol, and p-tolylaldehyde. Other reactants are specified.
