titleOfInvention Azo dyestuffs
abstract 1336686 Colouring polymeric materials BAYER AG 23 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 59941/71 Headings C3F C3B C3P C3Q and C3R [Also in Divisions C4 and D1] The dyestuff azobarbituric acid and its novel reaction products with polyvalent metal salts are used to colour a wide variety of synthetic, semisynthetic and natural macromolecular materials, as illustrated in Example 8. Substrates in this example include stoving varnishes containing alkyd resins derived from coconut oil, cotton seed oil, castor oil or synthetic fatty acids and melamine resin or a condensation product of formaldehyde with urea or benzoguanamine, spirit varnishes, nitrocellulose varnish, nitro varnishes, air-drying oil; synthetic resin and nitro combination varnishes, and epoxide resin varnishes, optionally in combination with urea, melamine, alkyd or phenol resins; varnishes derived from an unsaturated polyester resin, amine-hardening epoxide resin varnishes with dipropylenetriamine as amine component, two-component varnishes derived from aromatic or aliphatic isocyanates and polyethers or polyesters containing OH groups, and polyisocyanate varnishes; an aqueous emulsion paint containing polyvinyl acetate and an ethoxylated alkylphenol, emulsion paints containing copolymers of styrene and maleic acid as binding agents, and those derived from polyvinyl propionate, polymethacrylate or butadiene-styrene, and wallpaper staining colours based on size with chalk; polyvinyl chloride for the production of foils and moulded bodies, polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene for injection moulding, extruding and roll milling, synthetic polyamides of caprolactam or adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine, condensation products of terephthalic acid and ethyleneglycol, an acrylonitrile/ butadiene/styrene copolymer, synthetic materials based on cellulose acetate and cellulose butyrate and their mixtures and a synthetic material based on polycarbonate; polyurethane foams possibly containing polyether siloxane; a printing paste containing tragacanth and egg albumin or other binding agents based on synthetic resin, British gum or cellulose glycolate; a vulcanization product based on crepe light; filaments and foils based on aqueous viscose solution or on acetylcellulose in acetone or polyacrylonitrile in DMF; and paper containing cellulose and resin size and possibly impregnated with urea-formaldehyde resin.
