titleOfInvention Composition and process for the treatment of glass surfaces
abstract 1335742 Organoborosiloxane compositions FIDENZA S A VETRARIA SpA 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970] 20542/71 Heading C3T [Also in Division C1] A composition for treating glass surface comprises an organoborosiloxane polymer containing alkyl and/or aryl and/or alkoxy and/or acyl groups and an organic polycondensable Ti, Sn, Zr and/or V compound. The preferred borosiloxanes are obtained by heating a polydiorganosiloxane with a boron compound in a ratio of Si : B of 100-500 : 1; preferred siloxanes contain Me 2 SiO and/or CF 2 CH 2 CH 2 Si(Me)O units. Suitable metal compounds are the alkoxy compounds and polymers thereof, chelated complexes and the dialkyltin dicarboxylates; they should provide 1-10M atoms per B atom. The composition may be applied to glass from solution in, e.g. ketones, esters, or chlorohydrocarbons; the glass is heated to 200-400‹ C. after drying. In examples borosiloxane polymers are obtained from B 2 O 3 and a polymethyltrifluoropropylsiloxane or polydimethylsiloxane; from oxy - bis - (diacetoxyboron) and (EtO) 4 Si; or from phenylboric acid and Ph 2 Si(OH) 2 . They are dissolved in solutions of Ti(OBu) 4 in MEK or benzene, or of Zr(OBu) 4 in CCl 4 , or of butyl acetyl titanate zirconate in ethyl acetate, or of triethylvanadate in MEK, or of diisobutyltin diacetate in benzene. The solutions are applied to glass plates, which are dried and heated.
