titleOfInvention | Control device for a liquefied petroleum gas operated com pression-ignition engine |
abstract | 1335441 Regulating fuel SEA BIRD (CLEAN AIR FUEL SYSTEMS) Ltd 6 Jan 1971 650/71 Addition to 1192275 Heading F1B A fuel control valve 50 is controlled by a flexible diaphragm 7 responsive to the pressure difference at a Venturi adapted for connection to an engine exhaust pipe, the fuel supply increasing as the suction increases. An adjustable screw 53 limits movement of valve 50, which is also controlled by a diaphragm 3 responsive to the pressure difference at a Venturi in the air inlet pipe. Suction here also controls a supply port 28 by means of diaphragm 3A and lever 26. At constant engine speed, an increase of load increases exhaust temperature increasing the pressure difference at the exhaust Venturi and opening valve 50. If the engine speed increases, the increased gas flow in inlet and exhaust Venturis produces, by means of diaphragms 3 and 7, equal and opposite forces on rod 248 so valve 50 remains steady and fuel supply is increased by opening of port 28 by diaphragm 3A. If the fuel injectors stick open so that exhaust gas temperature rises, diaphragm 7 will urge rod 24B to the left but there will be no effect on port 26 sothe gas flow will remain the same if the valve 50 is already in contact with screw 53. |
