titleOfInvention Receiving sheets for liquid developed electrostatic imagges
abstract 1334344 Coated products EASTMAN KODAK CO 1 June 1972 [1 June 1971] 25716/72 Heading B2E A receiving sheet for a developed image, especially an image produced by an electrophotographic process, comprises a porous support having a volume resistivity of 10<SP>4</SP>-10<SP>9</SP> ohm-cm carrying a barrier layer of a hydrophilic film-forming colloid having a volume resistivity of 10<SP>4</SP>-10<SP>9</SP> ohm-cm and on top of the barrier layer, an image receiving layer, usually of a dielectric film-forming resin, which has a volume resistivity greater than 10" ohm-cm. The support may be a fibrous web such as paper, which may be coated on both sides with a latex-casein-clay layer, and which is rendered conductive by sizing with 1-10% by weight of polydimethyl diallyl-ammonium chloride. The barrier layer may be of hardened gelatin or polyvinyl alcohol usually of 20-40 microns thickness and optionally containing sodium polymethylacrylate and BaSO 4 or TiO 2 . The image-receiving layer may comprise a polyvinyl acetal such as polyvinyl formal or butyral.
