abstract | 1333681 Methin dyes BAYER AG 8 Sept 1971 [9 Sept 1970] 41883/71 Heading C4P Methin dyes of formula (in which R 1 and R 2 are each optionally substituted alkyl or together complete a spiroalkyl group; R 3 is optionally substituted alkyl or aralkyl; X is O, S or =NR 4 ; R 4 is H, cycloalkyl or optionally substituted alkyl or aralkyl; A completes an aromatic radical; E completes a 5- or 6-membered ring; L is H, halo, or 1-4 C. alkyl or alkoxy; An is anion; any alkyl group or residue is optionally substituted). The dyes are prepared by condensing a 2-metnylene indoline- #-aldehyde with a heterocyclic amine. The examples relate to dyes in which R 1 and R 2 are methyl; ethyl or spirohexyl; R 3 is alkyl, carbomethoxymethyl, benzyl, allyl or cyano-, chloro- or carboethoxy-ethyl; E completes an indolium, 1,2,3,4 tetrahydroquinolinium, 1,2,3,4,9,10- hexahydroacridine or 3,4-hydro-benzoxazine which may be substituted by Br, Cl or one or more CH 3 ; A completes a benzoxazole, benzthiazole, benzimidazole, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-naphth [2,3-d]oxazole, 5,6-dihydro-5H-indeno[5,6-d]- oxazole, naphth[1,2.d]dxazole, oxazolo[5,4-b]- pyridine, oxazole[4,5-g]quinoline, oxazolo[4,6-d]- pyrazine, oxazole[4,5-b]quinoxaline, oxazolo [5, 4-d]pyrimidine or acenaphtho[5,4-d]oxazole ring which may be substituted by 1 or 2 alkyl, cyclohexyl, Cl, F, C 6 H 5 , CH 3 O, C 2 H 5 SO 2 , (CH 3 ) 2 NSO 2 C 2 H 5 OCH 3 O.CO, benzyl, (C 2 H 5 ) 2 NCO, CH 3 - CONH, C 3 H 7 CONH or CH 3 SO 2 NH groups. |
