1332753 Propionic acid derivatives MERCK PATENT GmbH 19 May 1971 [27 June 1970] 15781/71 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions A5 and C1] α,#-Dichloro-#-phenyl-propionic acid is prepared by passing chlorine into cinnamic acid. The ammonium, sodium, potassium, calcium, cupric, n-butyl ammonium and di-n-butyl ammonium salts are obtained therefrom. By refluxing the acid with the corresponding alcohol the methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, amyl, hexyl, octyl and ethoxycarbonyl methylthio-esters are prepared. α,#-Dichloro-#-phenyl-propionic acid phenyl ester is obtained by reacting sodium phenolate with the corresponding acid chloride. The thiophenyl ester and the acid thiocyanate also may be obtained. α,# - Dichloro - # - [5 - chlorofuryl - (2)]- propionic acid is prepared by passing chlorine into #-furyl-(2)-acrylic acid. The dichloroanilide thereof may be obtained. The corresponding dibromo compound may be obtained by adding bromine instead of chlorine. α,# - Dichloro - # - [5 - nitrofuryl - (2)] - propionic acid is obtained by passing chlorine into #-[5-nitrofuryl-(2)]-acrylic acid. |
