abstract | 1331181 Phenylacetohydroxamic acids CIBA-GEIGY AG 8 Sept 1971 [9 Sept 1970 16 July 1971] 41990/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] Novel compounds of Formula I (in which each of R 1 , R 3 and R 4 is H, F, Cl, Br, C 1-6 alkyl or C 1-6 alkoxy and R 2 is H, F, Cl, Br, CF 3 , C 1-6 alkyl or C 1-6 alkoxy, with the proviso that at least one of R 1 , R 2 and R 3 is other than H) and salts thereof with inorganic bases, are prepared by reacting an amide or ester of an acid of Formula II with hydroxylamine or an acid addition salt thereof in a basic medium, and, if desired converting a resulting salt into the free acid or into another salt. Acids of Formula II and alkali metals salts, methyl, cyanomethyl and p-nitrophenyl esters and amides thereof are also disclosed. |
