titleOfInvention | Selective microbiological preparation of androst-4-ene 3,17-dione |
abstract | 1329387 Microbiological preparation of androst-4-ene-3,17-dione G D SEARLE & CO 9 Dec 1971 [10 Dec 1970] 57192/71 Heading C2U Androst-4-ene-3,17-dione is prepared by aerobically incubating a steroid of the cholestane or stigroastane series containing at least 8 carbon atoms in the 17-side chain or a mixture of such steroids with Mycobacterium sp. N.R.R.L. B-3805 or enzymes derived therefrom. Specified starting materials include cholest-5-en-3#-ol, (24R)-24-methylcholest-5-en-3#-ol, stigmast- 5-en-3#-ol, stigmast-4-en-3-one, stigmasta-5,22- dien-3#-ol and stigmasta-4,22-dien-3-one. Byproducts are androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-dione, 5#- androstane-3,17-dione, 20α-hydroxymethylpregna- 1,4-dien-3-one, 20α-hydroxymethylpregn-4-en-3- one,. 9α-hydroxyandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione, 5α-androstane-3,6,17-trione and 5α-androstane-3,17- dione. |
